Awakening Lakshmi: Living a life of beauty, purpose and abundance

goddess Apr 20, 2025

This morning, we dropped into practice with the radiant presence of Goddess Lakshmi — the beloved guardian of love, beauty, and abundance.

Lakshmi is one of the three divine Devis who hold watch over the sacred feminine realms. She is grace embodied. Golden. Flowing. She is the soft whisper that reminds us that wealth is not just a number in the bank, but the richness of a life fully lived — dripping in beauty, intimacy, service, and spiritual liberation.

To dance with Lakshmi is to say yes to a good life.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about presence. When Lakshmi’s energy is flowing through you, life feels juicy. There’s an inner contentment — not because everything is “done,” but because you can feel the gold thread of fulfillment weaving through even the smallest of moments.

The Four Arms of Lakshmi: The Sacred Aims of Life

In her iconography, Lakshmi is often depicted with four arms — each one a symbol of what it means to live a life steeped in devotion and wholeness. These arms are more than symbols. They are invitations. Portals. Possibilities.

Let’s explore them:

🌸 ArthaMaterial Prosperity
This is the realm of abundance in the physical world. Yes, you are allowed to desire financial well-being. You are allowed to live in beauty. Lakshmi reminds us that making good money, creating comfort, and receiving the fruits of our work is not only okay — it is sacred.

🌸 KamaPleasure + Desire
Kama speaks to sensuality, emotional well-being, and the pleasures of being alive. To feel deeply. To move through the world in reverent appreciation of taste, touch, connection, creativity. This arm of Lakshmi invites us to enjoy — not bypass or dull our desires, but to fulfill them with consciousness and devotion.

🌸 DharmaSacred Purpose
What are you here to do? What is the song that keeps singing to you through your dreams and your tears? Dharma is your calling, your path, your offering. When you’re walking in alignment with your dharma, there’s a sense of fulfillment that no paycheck or vacation can provide. You are in service — and you are alive.

🌸 MokshaLiberation
And finally, Moksha — the great liberation. This is the ultimate aim of all yogic paths: freedom from suffering, from the old stories, from the karmic loops. With Moksha, we see through Lakshmi’s rose-colored lens, where beauty and grace are not conditional, but ever-present truths.

Lakshmi’s Generous Heart

Lakshmi, in her essence, is a giver. She is often shown pouring golden coins into the world, a visual mantra of her boundless generosity. But here’s the sacred secret — she’s not just giving to you. She’s giving through you.

Her invitation is this: receive fully, then turn around and pour it back into the world. Be a channel. Be a fountain. The more you embody her frequency, the more you naturally step into generosity — of heart, of time, of resources, of love.

When you walk with Lakshmi, you become a living expression of the four great aims. You live from dharma. You revel in kama. You attract and sustain artha. And you bow to the infinite sky of moksha.

So today, let yourself be kissed by Lakshmi.

Welcome her in. Let her gold settle into your bones.

Then go share that beauty with the world.
